Valentine's Day Cards

Hello Everyone,

I hope everyone had a happy Valentine's day. My husband Michael and I don't really celebrate Valentine's day. We try to make every day or most days Valentine's day. We don't go out and buy each other gifts, and it is one holiday I don't mind not getting a card. But this year my husband surprise me with a couple handmade gifts the kids made in their art class at the Y.

I got a collage from Priscilla with 3 beautiful hearts and both Joshua and Priscilla made Play Dough Medallions for me. Below is a picture of the collage and the beautiful medallions. Thank you Daddy, Joshua and Priscilla. xoxoxoxo

Cookie monster and Tigger were cut in my Cricut. I found the SVG files for these 2 characters at http://stackyscraps.com. I love paper piecing, but at 1:30 am Sunday morning it was no fun putting Tigger together. He had a million little pieces. I was glad when I was done with him. Cookie monster was a lot easier.

Michael's card

For Michael's card I started with K&Company Adhesive paper ribbon. The heart was cut with my Cricut out of brown and fuchsia card stock and vellum. I embossed the vellum with my fine parchment embossing tool. The 'I love you' sentiment was stamped in fuchsia and heat embossed. The design in the heart was also stamped and embossed.

I just started learning more about stamping. I took a beginners stamping class at the Paper Source Store in Boston. I learned about the different inks and techniques. It was a fun class. I think my favorite ink was the VersaMark. I love how it looks when you emboss it with clear powder in color card stock. I used VersaMark and clear powder embossing in the fuchsia heart, and I was glad how this first attempt at stamping with VersaMark come out.

My own Anne Taintor inspired card!

Update 02/19/2010:  My card got honorable mention in the Moxie Fab World Challenge !  


Hello Everyone!

I just completed a new card for the Let's Get Sassy: Taintor-tude Challenge!  I had a blast creating this card.  Anne Taintor just makes me laugh out loud with her products. Even my husband was laughing when I was reading to him the blog entry on the Moxie's website.

Color Play Challenge from Moxie Fab World

Since the beginning of the year, I have been spending a lot more time on my cards.  You see, I got a Cricut Expression cutting machine as a Christmas gift from my husband. This machine is amazing. The possibilities are endless.  I am able to cut any image or font, which means I can create some really cool cards.

I have been doing a lot reading online about the Cricut machine and card making.  One website I have been reading is Moxie Fab World.  What a great site!  I love all the inspiration I get from reading all the wonderful blog entries.  So, I decided to participate in my first ever card challenge, which was offered by the Moxie Fab site.

I had to create a card using only the following colors:

I had lots of fun creating this card!  I wasn't sure about the colors at first.  The sail boat was the first design to come to my mind when I saw this color scheme.  I went back and forth between a couple of other designs, but in the end the sail boat won.  I am very happy on how this card turn out!

Sabrinna's Birthday Card

Sabrinna is my niece.  She turned 11 years old this past November.  Every year since her 4th birthday I have made her a birthday card.  This past year she has started creating her own cards.  :-)  


She is very creative.  For her birthday I gave her a box full of rubber stamps, papers, decorative stickers and a book on card making.  


It is so fantastic to see that she loves making cards as much as I do.   I hope I can continue to be a source of inspiration to her.

I friend of mine that rides the train with me everyday, asked me to make a Halloween/Birthday card for her husband.

Joshua and Priscilla's Birthday

My little ones celebrated their 2nd birthday about a month ago.  I was able to find a little time to make them birthday cards.
